Boss
Hoss Motorcycles

CMCI was asked on
this project to create a front fairing for a new Boss Hoss
motorcycle. The challenge? The concept created
by Boss Hoss designers only existed as a clay model.
The solution? A laser scanner was used to
create a digitized, 3-D point cloud which was then
imported into the renowned class-A surfacing package, ICEM
Surf. CMCI experts then reverse engineered a
high-quality, class-A surface model which matched the scan
data but removed any surface imperfections. This
model was then passed to CMCI partner, Surfacing Solutions, to complete the
B-side mounting design as well as the mating internal
dash design.
During the
completion of the front fairing and dash design, it
was determined that the fairing required a substantial
addition of material in the areas shielding the rider's
hands. CMCI's surface modeling experts were able
to globally 'morph' the surface model in ICEM
Surf and return the updated A-surface geometry to
Surfacing Solutions designers. They were then
able to reroute all solid feature geometry in Pro/Engineer
in less than a day.
Whether it's native Pro/E geometry
or imported data from complimentary packages, CMCI can
provide the solution you're looking for!
